Winter fun, and taffy!

On March 2nd, there was a little celebration at the city park, presumably to lift peoples' spirits for this last stretch of winter. They had music and some folk dancing, people were skating on the reservoir, and, what I suspect really drew the crowd, maple taffy! They poured the hot syrup over the snow and we rolled it up ourselves, hence the lack of pictures - I'm sure I would have ended up with a very stick phone by the time were were done.

The kids then had fun exploring the new playground that went up at the end of 2013. They're really going to have fun here once the weather warms up. They even put in a splashpad!

After that, we all crossed the ice to the big hill on the other side of the park, where E and P climbed to the top. We went back down to the ice for a bit, where the kids requested that we play "bowling" with them - they would lie on their stomachs, then we would give them a push and see how far they would slide, ha! They loved it.

On our way out of the park we stood in line for a second round of taffy, then C fell asleep on the way back to the truck. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday.
