Winter days

February is winding down, and I think we're all more than anxious for spring to arrive. It's almost too bad, seeing as just last week, C finally started to enjoy playing in the snow! The poor guy has spent almost every outing at daycare crying to go back inside, and even at home he wants to go back in two minutes after we head out the door. I understand where he's coming from though - if I had my way I would hibernate all winter, particularly this year. A little while ago I saw a meme posted on Facebook that said "The air hurts my face. Why do I live in a place where the air hurts my face?" Good thing Canada makes up for the cold in other ways right?

This winter at least has brought us less illness, so we're certainly thankful for that. I remember last year, C seemed to be sick for six straight months! We all caught a bit of a virus this January - nothing too severe but verrrrry draining - so the month seemed to pass in a blur. I don't get downloading images from our camera very often, so here are some snaps from my phone that I've recently posted on Instagram.

My boys love it anytime they get to wear kids tattoos or even stickers on their arms, so they were quite tickled with our "valentine" to them - wearable hearts tucked under their sleeve, that they could look at all day at school and daycare. I used our Lyra face paint pencils and the hearts were still there when they came home, when I gave them the second part of their valentine, a belgian chocolate bear-holding-a-heart pop.

C's daycare had the funniest activity that day - a "lovers lunch"! What a cute idea. C was covered in chocolate by the end, it must have been a yummy dessert.

On February 15 we all got out the see the LEGO Movie. It was C's first time at the theatre and he quite enjoyed it. Now, I went in expecting a cute movie for kids, similar in style to LEGO Ninjago on TV. Boy was I wrong - it was AWESOME! (Cue the theme song). I laughed so hard I cried, it is certainly a must-see.

Here the boys are having fun with the science kit E got for Christmas (The Magic School Bus Diving Into Slime, Gel, and Goop Science Kit). Here they are making ooblek - just cornstarch and water, but so strange to play with.

I took this shot one morning during my run - frosty but beautiful!

This was actually taken in the parking lot on my way out of work one day. I had never before seen a snowy owl in person! He was so beautiful, it's too bad I couldn't get a shot of him looking my way.

One last photo, because I'm a sucker for a sleeping kid pic.
