Colin

The last stretch of this pregnancy was long and tiring, hence the posting hiatus around here. This belly was low and large for a long time. The day I finished work (three weeks before I was due) I was told I should stay home because soon, I wouldn't fit through the door.

Eric was born two days past due, so we kind of expected this apparently "huge" (according to all friends, family, and doctors) baby to come a bit early. So we waited, and waited and waited some more. Eventually, the due date came and went. Hormonal despair set in as I became convinced I was on Candid Camera, and that someone was going to pop out and tell me I wasn't really pregnant, just doomed to carry this giant belly with me forever.

Finally, four days after the due date, my water broke. Yay! Action time, right? Umm, not so much. Eighteen hours later (with only three hours of sleep in there), they had to hook me up to a pitocin drip to actually get contractions going. This baby did NOT want to budge! That is, until the last 15 minutes of labour, where he suddenly decided enough was enough, and sprinted his way out (now that was a surreal and extremely intense experience!). At long last, he was here.

Introducing our sweet Colin.

Eric is absolutely thrilled to be a big brother. He barely glanced at me when he arrived at the hospital, it was all about "my baby brother".

Colin is ten days old now, and I'd say he has spent about 90% of that time out cold and content.

We're all so in love.

He's so gorgeous, Amy. For some reason this post has me in a hormonal mess of tears. I'm so happy for you guys.
